CCI Response to Quebec Bill 12, Procurement Modernization
February 2, 2022
Today Quebec released a new strategy for government procurement, including Bill 12, which will modernize legislation regarding procurement processes. In response, CCI Quebec director of government affairs Pierre-Philippe Lortie issued the following statement on behalf of our 27 Quebec member companies:
“The Quebec procurement strategy released today by the Legault government is good news for innovators. Bill 12 will allow the government to give priority to technologies from Quebec companies in the procurement process. The government’s strategy comes with a commitment to purchase $1.5 billion from local companies by the end of 2026. The most valuable support that the government can give a company is a purchase order, because selling products and services to government acts as a major validator, allowing a growing business to secure further business from other large customers.
“CCI has been calling on the government to modernize procurement to increase opportunities for Quebec suppliers to sell to government. We hope the government will consult with CCI Quebec members as they implement this strategy.”
