CCI's Response to Ontario's 2024 Fall Economic Statement

Today, Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy delivered the government's 2024 Fall Economic Statement, titled, "Building Ontario for You."

In response to the announcement, CCI Director of Ontario Affairs, Skaidra Puodziunas, issued the following statement:

"In today’s fall economic statement, we heard the Ontario government once again emphasize affordability and infrastructure planning as key priority issues to tackle. The reality is that the best way to create meaningful long-term prosperity for Ontarians is through sustainable economic growth.

"We were pleased to see the Ontario government recommit to the Health Innovation Pathway, designed to streamline adoption of technology solutions in healthcare that will deliver better outcomes while saving taxpayers money. This is exactly the right approach, and we hope to see the Ontario government adopt this ethos more broadly when Supply Ontario comes into its own as the province’s procurement agency.

"Earlier this year we saw the Ontario government introduce Bill 194, which creates safeguards and standards for data and technology systems to serve government and its citizens. As we look ahead to the 2025 Budget, CCI hopes to see the government put strategic investments and infrastructure behind this important legislation."
