CCI Statement on the 2025 B.C. Budget
March 4, 2025
Today, the B.C. government released its 2025 budget, outlining its approach to fiscal management in a time of economic uncertainty. With global trade tensions rising, British Columbia’s innovators are ready to help drive productivity and economic resilience. In response, CCI President Benjamin Bergen has issued the following statement on behalf of B.C.’s technology leaders:
“We expected that the B.C. government’s 2025 budget would be defined by fiscal restraint, as the government ensures that we are on a solid footing to weather the looming trade war.
“British Columbia innovators stand ready to support the economy, and our homegrown technology companies are working to drive the kind of productivity growth and wealth creation that can stand as a bulwark against geopolitical volatility.
“Uncertain times call for government to double-down on low-cost strategic innovation policies. — measures like strategic procurement reform and building on the B.C. government’s intellectual property strategy. In particular, many of the province’s great health technology companies can be part of a cost-effective solution for the B.C. government, driving more efficient care and better patient outcomes, while boosting domestic economic activity.”
