Brian Tanner

After specializing in AI during an undergraduate Computer Science degree at the University of Manitoba, Brian pursued a Masters and PhD under Rich Sutton, the grandfather of modern Reinforcement Learning.

After graduate school, Brian joined a one-person consulting firm and grew it into the industry-leader in Canada before selling it to join DeepMind.

At DeepMind, Brian co-lead the research engineering team in Alberta with Andrew Butcher for 5 years.

Since then: Brian, Andrew, and two other colleagues from DeepMind founded Artificial Agency.
