Securing Prosperity: An Open Letter to Federal Leaders from Canadian CEOs

This election, CEOs are asking: What’s the plan to SecureProsperity.ca for Canada?

As new tariffs take hold and capital markets reel, it’s increasingly clear that we are living through a historic moment of global economic upheaval.

It’s difficult to stay focused on long-term priorities amid daily headlines about inflation, trade disputes, and market volatility. But for better or worse, this storm is unfolding in the middle of a federal election—and that makes the stakes even higher.

At the midpoint of this campaign and with days to go until the official English and French debates, CEOs from some of Canada’s fastest-growing companies are calling on political leaders to elevate the conversation. Today, they’ve released an open letter to all federal party leaders with a clear message: Canadians are thinking differently. It’s time our leaders did too.

Signed by more than 150 CEOs of homegrown Canadian scale-up companies, the letter calls for a serious conversation about economic security, sovereignty, and long-term prosperity. These leaders are building intellectual property, creating globally competitive products, and offering high-paying jobs to Canadian workers in every region of the country. At next week’s debates, they’ll be looking for each party leader to address the concerns outlined in the letter — and to present a clear plan to secure prosperity for every generation.

Whoever forms the next government will be responsible for making decisions that will shape Canada’s economic future. That includes policies on industrial strategy, procurement reform, domestic capacity building, and how to assert Canada’s economic sovereignty in a more unstable world.

With Canadians increasingly aligned around the idea of a stronger, more self-reliant economy, innovators are asking all party leaders to engage with these issues during the debates—and to treat them as core to the ballot question this election.

CCI is proudly non-partisan, but we are not neutral on outcomes. We’ll be measuring every platform, announcement, and debate against the principles laid out in our What Innovators Need to Scale document—shared with all parties before the writ dropped. After the election, CCI will release its next report, The Innovation Playbook, to help guide the critical decisions the next government must make to drive prosperity, support innovative companies, and ensure Canada remains sovereign and secure.
