CCI Welcomes Kiersten Enemark as Director of B.C. Affairs to Advance Regional Growth for Canadian Innovators

April 22, 2025

The Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) is pleased to welcome Kiersten Enemark as our new Director of British Columbia Affairs.

Kiersten joins the team at a pivotal time for B.C.’s innovation economy. As Canada faces urgent national conversations around economic competitiveness, innovation policy, and digital infrastructure, strong regional leadership is essential to shaping effective solutions.

“British Columbia is home to some of Canada’s most dynamic tech companies,” said Kiersten Enemark, Director of B.C. Affairs. “I’m excited to join CCI to advocate for the policies that will help these innovators scale globally, drive growth at home, and strengthen the province’s role in Canada’s economic future.”

Kiersten brings more than two decades of experience in government relations and public policy, having represented Canadian telecommunications firms in policy negotiations, procurement strategies, and infrastructure expansion efforts. She served as Director of Government Relations at Shaw Communications, where she was the lead point of contact for the provincial government, over 100 local governments, and more than 30 Indigenous governments across British Columbia.

Her advocacy has supported landmark partnerships delivering new technologies, including system-wide WiFi on TransLink and the launch of one of North America’s largest public WiFi networks in Vancouver. Born in Vancouver and fluent in both official languages, Kiersten has lived and worked across the country, gaining policy experience in six provinces and two territories. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Concordia University and a Certificate in Dialogue and Civic Engagement from Simon Fraser University.

In her new role, Kiersten will lead CCI’s advocacy efforts in British Columbia, engaging directly with provincial and local policymakers, working alongside innovators, and identifying opportunities to remove structural barriers to growth in the region’s innovation economy.

“With the Province recently announcing a commitment to procure services from Canadian companies, Kiersten’s leadership will ensure our advocacy continues to reflect the needs and ambitions of B.C.-based scale-ups,” said Benjamin Bergen, President of CCI. “She understands how to work with government at all levels to get results—and that’s exactly what B.C.’s innovators need.”

CCI’s work in British Columbia remains focused on improving public procurement practices, enhancing support for commercialization, and developing forward-looking policy to support the province’s growing innovation ecosystem.

“Kiersten brings deep regional knowledge and a proven track record of building strong relationships across all levels of government,” said Dana O’Born, Vice President of Strategy & Advocacy at CCI. “As British Columbia sharpens its focus on domestic economic resilience, her leadership will be instrumental in ensuring innovators in the province have a strong voice in shaping the policies that impact their growth and global competitiveness.”

ABOUT THE COUNCIL

Founded in 2015 by Canada’s most successful technology CEOs, CCI aims to amplify their voices in the public policy development process around innovation, countering the dominance of foreign multinationals and other entities not focused on Canadian economic growth. CCI’s CEOs lead Canadian-based innovation firms in sectors such as Healthtech, Cleantech, Fintech, Cyber, and ICT, driving commercialization of intellectual property, generating jobs and wealth, making investments, and engaging in philanthropy. We advocate on their behalf for government strategies that increase their access to skilled talent, strategic capital, and new customers, as well as expanded freedom to operate for their global pursuits of scale.
