Carl Hansen

Carl is the founding CEO of AbCellera. As an entrepreneurial scientist working at the interface of engineering, biology, and computation, his work is represented in 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts, more than 75 patent applications, and nine successful commercial products. Carl is the recipient of numerous awards, including EY Canada’s Entrepreneur of Year. Before leading AbCellera, Carl cofounded Precision Nanosystems, a global leader in technologies, solutions, and services for the development of non-viral delivery of genomic medicines, including mRNA vaccines and therapeutics. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia and served on the Scientific Advisory Board of Fluidigm Corp. Carl received his PhD in Applied Physics/Biotechnology from Caltech and a BASc in Engineering Physics and Honors Mathematics from the University of British Columbia.
